Good customer service is not the answer

Great Service won't Save you Now

“Great service” describes ten thousand venues...

...and that sameness is exactly why AI can’t tell you apart. Trying to be everyone’s cup of tea is a lovely idea. It’s also how you end up as the lukewarm one nobody finishes.

So many operators describe their business with the one phrase that every other operator also uses. Great service or Excellent service. It feels safe, but it’s quietly making you invisible.

AI and customers both trust specific

AI and customers reward the same thing. It isn’t effort, it’s clarity. A venue that says “great food and great service” sounds like every other food venue on the street, so AI can’t confidently put it forward. A venue that knows exactly who it’s for and says so in plain words, hands AI and the customer an easy yes.

“Long lazy lunches for couples escaping the city for the weekend” describes one place, your place. Guess which one the concierge can actually recommend?

Everyone is the most expensive customer you’ll never win

When you talk to everyone, you connect with no one. Your message goes beige which is fine for a rental paint job, but it’s not a strategy.

It's just lobby music. Designed to offend nobody, remembered by nobody and no one in history has ever leaned over the front desk to ask what's playing. Specific on the other hand is that song that stops a conversation, the one people ask about and get up on the dance floor for, the one that creates the experience they remember.

If it takes you ten seconds to say who you’re for, that’s the gap

Here’s the honest test. Try to say, in one sentence, who you want more of. Not who books, who you actually want walking in.

If that took longer than ten seconds, that’s not a content problem you can post your way out of. That’s the actual gap. It’s the exact thing that has AI hedging and your marketing budget working twice as hard as it should.

Quick Check

Finish this sentence in ten words or less: we’re the place for ______.

Now go and read your own homepage and Instagram bio. If they say “great service,” you’ve found your first fix. Sharpen that one sentence and everything downstream, your posts, your profile, your booking page, gets easier and clearer at the same time.
